Unfortunately the Brecon Gap Road, and the Northern part of Sarn Helen (from Banwen up) have both had their 'Permanent Seasonal TRO's' removed and have been defaulted to Restricted Byways which means these are now 100% illegal for us to drive. This has been confirmed by the Powys Rights of Way officer and GLASS.
Whilst we have got away with driving at least the Gap Road in the past, I have confirmation that the Police are operating stings on at least the weekends for this season and will prosecute those found driving it. Whilst they are likely to just give you a warning, this is entirely at your own risk and I have cancelled the planned trip to the Gap Road.
Fortunately the lower part of Sarn Helen is still open later in the year - however the owners of the land surrounding it (construction company Walters) are trying to shut it (probably so they can run their private rallies on it as we experienced last year). Plans are being submitted and they look to be passed very soon which means we will have also lost this route.
